wsm 2000

The TriskAero WSM range of mobile infrared units has been designed for aerospace workshop operations to achieve rapid curing in a variety of applications such as paint on aircraft and composite repair environments. The range consists of equipment with a choice of one or two cassettes each containing three 1KW infrared lamps attached to an upright arm on a sturdy moveable base.

Why use TriskAero equipment?
Simple - Improved Efficiency!

Using TriskAero equipment enables the end user to dramatically reduce overall curing time. For example, a 12 hour ambient cure for polyurethane can be cured with TriskAero infrared in less than 2 hours, enabling improved throughput and more efficient use of resources. Please ask for the independent QinetiQ test results for more detailed examples.

Lower Operating Costs

Using TriskAero equipment enables lower operating costs as end users benefit from significant energy and cost savings. Improved quality finish also leads to lower rework – an added advantage! our equipment gives you:

  • Reduced turnaround time
  • Higher throughput
  • Lower operating costs
  • Improved quality
  • Minimised re-work
  • Significant energy savings

Environmental Benefits

Due to faster cure times, TriskAero equipment can also assist in the reduction of exposure to VOC emissions contributing to the achievement of environmental targets.

Making The Most Of Your Investment

Flexibility is paramount and TriskAero infrared equipment can be used on a variety of substrates in various ways. Practical uses identified so far include:

  • Paint refinish on metallic substrate
  • Moisture removal from fabricated structures
  • Paint refinish on composite substrate
  • Decal removal
  • Sealants and jointing compounds
  • Composite repair

Understanding infrared technology

Infrared heats only objects that are placed in its path, directly focussing energy where it’s needed. TriskAero equipment allows the short-wave infrared to penetrate through the coating to the substrate. The difference for the end user is improved precision and speed.

With the use of infrared, the curing process is highly accelerated and when used within set guidelines there is no detrimental effect to either the substrate or the coating itself. TriskAero equipment can not only produce higher temperatures if required, but also penetrate deeper into an object promoting through curing.

Infrared cassette head

Positioned correctly, the infrared cassette head creates a uniform thermal footprint on the area required for curing. Once switched on the infrared will penetrate through to the substrate, curing from the inside out, or enabling decal’s to be removed more simply, cleanly and effectively. Each cassette is equipped with a port, which allows data logging and computer control providing a record of the component surface temperatures throughout the process.

Easily transportable

To enable easy movement around the workshop and positioning for work, the unit is mounted on four 8 inch castors suited for a wide range of surfaces including floor gratings and uneven surfaces. The rear castors are lockable enabling peace of mind during operation. If special circumstances apply in your environment, special castors can be fitted on request.

Other features

Solid state relay rated at 480V offers greater protection against mains-bourn electrical spikes and a distance indicator is fitted as standard on each machine as an operator aid to ensure repeatable results. It also has built in safety cut out features.

Safe to use

Used correctly the equipment is safe for operator and aircraft, and has been designed to meet the requirements of current applicable legislation e.g. CE in Europe and OSHA in North America.

Thermal sensor & controller

When in use, process temperatures of the equipment vary from 40°C to 120°C, (100°F to 250°F) allowing greater flexibility of use. A temperature sensor is fitted as standard on each cassette and this monitors the surface temperature of the object in its field of view.

  • Operating temp 0°C to 120°C (32°F to 248°F)
  • Emissivity, adjustable 0.1 to 1.0
  • Response time 150mSec (95%)
  • Repeatability +/- 0.5%
  • Accuracy +/- 4.5°F

A temperature controller is also fitted as standard on each cassette with a calibration accuracy of +/- 0.25%. The controller adjusts (to a preset level) the output energy from the lamps based on emittance from the surface of the aircraft or component measured by the temperature sensor. This is then recorded by the data logging facility.

Temperature ramp rate is programmable within a range of 1°C / hour up to 160°C / min
